SWEET OCCUPATION

The Museum for Islamic Art is honored to host author Lizzie Doron and the Goethe Institute in launching the book:

SWEET OCCUPATION

Tuesday, 3.9.19

A guided tour of the museum will take place at 18:00

The launch event will begin at 19:00

Sweet Occupation is another testament to Doron's dedication to the political cause, to the fate of the Jews and Palestinians living here and to the vision of shared, peaceful life.

This extraordinary book, is now published in Hebrew in the series "Texts for the Future". In pain, emotion, compassion and humor, Lizzie Doron talks about five men: three convicted terrorists from the occupied territories and two former soldiers in the Israeli army who refused to continue serving the occupation. Five men who were in prison, and then founded the Fighters for Peace movement, decided to fundamentally change their lives and the world around them. Lizzie Doron listened to their chilling testimony for a whole year - thus creating an illuminating document revealing  the  author herself and those who chose to abandon the violent path and provide an alternative to the blatant hatred.

Lizzie Doron has published several award-winning novels around the world, most of them dealing with the "second generation" question. Her breakthrough was with the publication of the documentary novel 'Who the fuck is Kafka?'

On the evening of the event she will talk with Ofri Ilani (Haaretz) and Idan Tzivoni (Rasling).

The book is published as part of the series Texts for the Future - a joint project of the Goethe Israel Institute and the Resling Publishing House.
