Amir Shahasar on a Voyage to the Heart of Sufi Music

Inspired by the exhibit Arabesque Now, which is currently on display at the museum, Amir Shahasar, one of the leading figures in the Israeli world music scene, will take us on a mystical musical voyage through the traditional Sufi music of Persia, Turkey and Kurdistan.

Shahasar is a rare and exciting artist, from an Iranian descent, who is considered a true master of his craft. He fled Muslim Iran to Turkey, and then came to Israel over 30 years ago. Here he became a prominent and acclaimed musician. His exceptional musicianship on wind instruments has led to countless collaborations, including recordings and performances in Israel and all over the world, with most of the world music artists in Israel, mainstream and Mediterranean music artists, and even jazz players. Besides his exceptional instrumental skills, Shahasar also possesses unique vocal gifts.

Amir will perform together with his classical Sufi ensemble.
