The Menofim Festival for contemporary art in Jerusalem is an independent venture designed to promote art and creativity in Jerusalem, which was conceived by artists who live and work in the city. This year the festival marks its first decade, with dozens of openings of new exhibitions, and many events and special performances.
This year, the Museum for Islamic Art will take part in the festival with a main exhibition called Nekhasim (Properties), which presents the multifaceted story of the beautiful Jerusalem neighborhood of Talbiyeh. The exhibition will spread across the neighborhood, in private houses and public buildings, as well as the museum itself. The exhibition will include Yaniv Amar’s Traklin (Drawing Room), a large installation which will be placed around the entrance plaza and will showcase the riches of Arabic culture – offering something of a nostalgic aroma – as part of the history and identity of many Israelis.
