In a reality in which man was faced with the unknown, exposed to tragedies, the desire for an anchor and safety, offered by various forms of magic, increased. The lecture will look at protective action and holding rituals to banish the evil eye and placate the devils, performed by women in traditional society in eastern countries.
These ceremonies and amulets came to Israel, together with the Jewish community, in the early 1950s, and were mainly preserved by the older generation.
