The Museum for Islamic Art in Jerusalem invites the whole family to enjoy 5 days of light, with performances by the country’s top children’s artists, based on popular and beloved children’s stories. In addition to the shows, there will be arts workshops based on the theme of Hanukkah and Islamic art, and guided tours.

One big book and five witches… Do witches really exist or do they belong only to fairytales?... Are they scary or hysterically funny?... An interactive event with laughter and a shared experience with the young audience, taking off for an adventure through the pages of an enchanted book.

Button Soup – Orna Porat Theater
Based on a tale of a sage

A starving beggar comes to a small village in the hope of finding a little food. Surprisingly, the villagers shut themselves away in their homes and ignore him, and don’t even help each other. The beggar decides to open up their hearts (and also fill his belly) and promises to make soup for the villagers… button soup! This is a colorful, entertaining and challenging show about the power of cooperation, unity in the community, and about understanding that if everyone does their bit, it is possible, together, to do great things. The children in the audience help the actors tell the story of the show, and thereby experience the magic of sharing, and the advantage of a unified society.

The Neverending Treasure– Orna Porat Theater
Based on a clever legend about Mother Earth

A brother and sister receive a gift from their father, a plot of land. However the land is dry and neglected, but the father promises them that “there is treasure buried in the land”. The siblings start to dig, and put all their strength into turning the soil over, but they don’t find anything. When they complain to their father, he insists that the treasure is in the earth. While the brother gives up and looks for short cuts to find “treasure” of his own somewhere else, the sister begins to understand what exactly the treasure is – that with persistence, devotion, hard work and, of course, love, the land will give us more and more, like a neverending treasure.

The Roll on the Mountain – Bilingual Show – Elmina Theater
Based on the legend of the Roll Over the Hill

Below a big volcano two brave innocent children from two different enemy villages follow in the footsteps of a local legend, to fight the angry Roll at the edge of the peak, before it comes down off the mountain to the village and makes a meal of everyone. The children’s paths cross en route and they join forces. Together they encounter creatures and animals, all sorts of weird enemies that turn out to be friends… and they even become friends themselves. It is only when they arrive at the edge of the peak that they realize they are in the company of the Roll, from the fairytales. Will the children fight their new friend, as they intended when they left their homes? Or will they return to their villages with a new tale about the wonderful Roll over the other side of the hill?

One cold rainy evening Shmulikipod, the spikey hedgehog, loses his way looking for a friend to play with. He finds himself in the room of a sick child who, by chance, is also looking for a friend… But what do a hedgehog and a boy have in common? One is spikey and the other has flu! One speaks Hebrew and one speaks Arabic! Will they manage to be friends?
